der schwedische produzent kasbo veröffentlicht sein debütalbum auf odeszas label family collective! im bislang wohl aufregendsten moment seiner karriere kündigt der aufstrebende schwedische produzent kasbo sein debütalbum places we dont know via foreign family collective/ counter records erscheint. mit seinem dreizehn tracks langen projekt „places we don’t know“ welches unter anderem vocal-features von tender, amanda fondell, nea und charlie kim enthält hat kasbo seinen sound sehr raffiniert und zu sich selbst gefunden. Über das ganze album hinweg brilliert er geradezu und hat seine bislang stringenteste und überzeugendste musik überhaupt produziert. er geht aktiv auf entdeckungsreise und stellt musikalische ideen gegenüber, wodurch melancholisch-schöne tracks entstehen, die zwar komplex sind, zu denen man aber schnell eine beziehung aufbaut.

chuck cissel, from tulsa, oklahoma, recoded just two albums in 1979 and 1982 respectively, both for arista at the time and reissued together on cd by expansion in 2014. he is best known in disco circles for ‘cisselin’ hot’, but over the last two decades has become renonwned for “don’t tell me you’re sorry” in northern and crossover soul circles. today it is his most sought after record, orignal copies worth £150. the track is also written about in richard searling’s new book “putting the record straight”.

in keeping with the labels 303 based theme, things kick off with blue flame, which sees dj overdose delve into serious 4x4 territory with angelic like synth stabs, jackin’ beats and gnarly acid lines. bare bonus bounce is a stripped back version of blue flame that retains the vocal samples, funk and jacking 4x4 beats. the flip side kicks off with acid lovely, a hefty 303 laden electro work out that certainly lives up to its name. the ep finishes off with work is work which retains the vocal samples of blue flame laid out over a raw and gritty electro beat.
